Mercedes-Benz E-Class Facelift Premiered

The latest facelift of the Mercedes-Benz E-Class finally breaks cover, and it gets a bunch of changes that include a new face, updated and electrified engine options, and more features. For the first time since the W210 series, the' E' gets a singular built-in headlamp, and it now resembles the A-Class. The three-part air dam and diamond grille also take references from the A. With the triangular swept-back tail lamps and the blunt twin exhaust tips for the sedan; the tail style has become sharper. On the other hand, the E-Class All-Terrain gets signals from the stable SUVs for a muscular look. Since it is the same body shell, except for the new set of alloys, the profile remains the same. To add sportiness to the build, the E53 AMG, the sportier E, receives the vertically slatted Panamericana grille and carbon-fiber accents.

Inside, the latest E-Class gets an all-new steering wheel while the dashboard receives two 10.25-inch screens, one on the center console for the MBUX infotainment system, and the other on the digital instrument cluster. Buyers will also be capable of choosing the larger screens of 12.3 inches, which can be designed in four different styles. Now the Touch control panel is capable of enhancing functionality. As well as the driving experience, the host of driver assistance systems have been developed to improve safety.

The electrification of the powertrains resulted in the first 4-cylinder petrol engine having a 48V on-board electrical system with an integrated starting-generator (ISG) that provides 20PS more power and an additional 180Nm torque. Along with the 3.0-liter 6-cylinder petrol and diesel engines, the latest E-Class will be offered with the 2.0-liter gasoline and diesel engine options. It would get the 9-speed 9G-TRONIC gearbox that drives either the rear wheels or all-wheel drive options with the 4Matic. The E53 AMG will fit the 3.0-liter 6-cylinder petrol engine to the AMG-spec 9-speed Speedshift gearbox and all-wheel drive.

This latest E-Class is expected to be released early and should be on sale in the global market by mid-2020. Since it is one of the bestsellers for the Indian market, we expect Mercedes in the latter half of 2020 to introduce the new 2020 E-Class to India and should be offered in as many variants as it is currently being sold.
