Amazon India to Establish a New Robotics Software Development Centre in Bengaluru, India

On May 31, 2022, - Amazon, the e-commerce giant announced its plans to open a new consumer robotics software development center in India that would build solutions for the world.

The India center would aid Amazon's international Robotics division, which launched its first robot Astro the preceding year. This new consumer robotics software development center would support its growing consumer robotics division while attracting top talent to work on top-notch technology products.

Astro has been to help customers with an array of tasks such as home monitoring and keeping in touch with the family. Moreover, it incorporates new advancements in computer vision, sensor technology, artificial intelligence, and voice and edge computing in a bundle designed to be convenient and helpful.

The center in India would help Amazon create improved consumer robotics experiences for customers throughout the world since India is an innovation hub. Astro comes equipped with in-built Alexa and utilizes advanced navigation technology to find its way around the home. The operator can remotely send Astro to scrutinize specific people, rooms, or things and receive alerts if Astro detects certain sounds or unrecognized persons when they are away.
