Adani Group plans wholesale, sourcing tie-up with Flipkart

According to two people with firsthand knowledge of the event, Adani Group and Walmart Inc.'s Flipkart unit are in advanced talks to expand their relationship beyond warehousing and data centers into new sectors, such as wholesale e-commerce and product sourcing groceries and home goods.

Adani and Walmart may sign a new strategic collaboration agreement under which Flipkart would sell a variety of products and Adani and Walmart will split the profits proportionally. The relationship will provide Flipkart with a greater range of products to sell to retailers, as well as new wholesale prospects associated with Adani Group firms in the packaged goods and consumer durables sectors. Under the planned agreement, Adani and Flipkart will jointly handle the wholesale sale of goods to retailers and business owners. The collaboration is part of Adani's strategy to expand its footprint in the e-commerce space.

The next planned cooperation with Adani Group will result in a rearrangement of assets at Flipkart Wholesale, and Adani Group may offer new large storage and distribution facilities for FMCG products in areas where Flipkart does not yet have market share. Flipkart may be able to acquire a slew of new wholesale customers as a result of this. According to the planned new agreement, Adani would gain an active e-commerce business and earn from the income generated from wholesale buying and selling on Flipkart.

Flipkart may be able to compete on a more level playing field with wholesalers like Udaan, Amazon, and JioMart as a result of this arrangement. According to continuing conversations, Adani Group would provide Flipkart with numerous new storage facilities, autos, and staff to enable Flipkart to expand its wholesale business while offering online products at lower prices. Shops, retailers, and shopping malls rely on it.
