All EV Line Launched By Smart Automobile

Daimler has revealed a minor facelift following Smart announcement that it would switch to the battery-electric powertrain technology.

All EV Line Launched By Smart Automobile

Mercedes-Benz and Zhejiang Geely Holding has formally established the global joint venture Smart Automobile, after receiving the necessary regulatory approvals. The new generation of the smart vehicle would be developed by the Geely global engineering network and designed by the global Mercedes-Benz Design network.

Gorden Wagener, Daimler's chief design, said that the new Smart is strikingly simple and with the new faces, company has orchestrated the typical smart identity. The vehicle has a lower grille and the headlamps above it in line with the smart DNA and thus creates a sporty, progressive appearance. The electric models Fortwo and Forfour now have different front ends. All grilles are finished in vehicle color and are no longer in a contrasting shade.

The choice of bright and long-lasting full-LED headlamps plus LED direction indicators comes with the turn to battery-electric. Now, optional LED tail lamps are also present. A new center console has an ample storage compartment in front of the selector lever in place of the hidden drawer on the side, and this includes removable twin cup holders.

The Connected media program is updated to be user-friendly to upgrade. If a user changes to a new smartphone or a software update makes new features available, they'll be added to the car system immediately. A new EQ control app allows drivers to track vehicle range and charging status remotely. Climate control on pre-entry is also available now. It also introduced a mobile app and integration with Apple Watch.

The My Smart app provides a portal for all brand-related digital services and enables monitoring of vehicle location and remote access, including keyless locking and unlocking. The procedure validates the car, the driver's identity, and ties the vehicle to a customer account. A mode of theft recovery alerts users by push notification as soon as their vehicle leaves an area they have defined-the geofence previously. If the vehicle goes a predefined location, the user will receive an automatic alert and step-by-step instructions to enable recovery mode. It also changed paint color and wheel options. Radar-based traffic allows the car to slow down behind a vehicle ahead gradually. Coasting and braking phases are synchronized to allow for the return of the maximum amount of kinetic energy to the battery.

An optional 22 kW on-board charger with a quick charging feature charges the battery in less than 40 minutes from 10 percent to 80 percent range and without having to rely on unusual direct charging stations when three-phase charging is available. German customer can now use virtually all public charging stations in cooperation with the charging network partner Plugsurfing, and can be located using EQ control application.
