To make people healthy and easy to maintain, Amazon began its journey with Amazon Pharmacy, a place where customers can conveniently have their own medicine delivered to their homes in just two days with Prime Membership. In November 2022, Amazon signed a deal to acquire One Medical, a people-centric, technology-enabled primary care provider. One Medical member benefits from committed provider relationships, a friendly and convenient in-office experience, and ongoing engagement via a dedicated app.
The Amazon Clinics will operate in 32 states of the US and provide virtual care for over 20 common health issues, including allergies, acne, and hair loss. With the acquisition of One Medical for USD 3.9 billion, Amazon would add mental health services to its portfolio. While some skeptics fear Amazon's privacy record related to healthcare, others say the company's move could be positive for the industry.
Amazon Clinic is simple and easy to use. First, customers select their state, then select their preferred provider from a list of licensed and qualified telemedicine providers. Next, fill out a short admissions questionnaire. Clients and clinicians connect directly through a secure, message-based portal. This gives clients the flexibility to message clinicians when and where it is most convenient for them. After a message-based consultation, the clinician sends a personalized treatment plan, including all required prescriptions, to the customer's preferred pharmacy via the portal.
