Aveva Inc., a self-driving sensor startup that was founded by two Apple Inc., veteran, now they have hired another Apple veteran to look over the manufacturing & supply chain operations due to an expected deal to become a public company this month later.

The company was founded by two Apple veterans Soroush Salehian and Mina Rezk. They made a lidar sensor that helps the car to gain a 3-D view of the road and detect quickly that how far is a distant object. Apple alumni Tim Wills has hired as vice president of global supply chain, manufacturing &strategy. Earlier will have worked at waymo, Alphabet Inc., an autonomous driving unit, he has also worked in Apple & Motorola after starting his career at Ford Motors Co.

With tier-one automotive suppliers Denso Corp and ZF Friedrichshafen AG, Aveva has deals to design lidar sensors. Lidar stands for “light detection and ranging” also known as “laser scanning” or “3-D scanning”, this technology uses eye-safe beams to create a 3-D representation of the environment.

Aeva is soon to become public through a reverse merger with blank-check firm InterPrivate Acquisition Corporation in a deal that has raised $563 million. The deal is expected to close this month later.
