The U.S. President Joe Biden has replaced and revoked all of the three executive orders that had been put in place by the former President Trump that were installed for seeking a ban of transactions with TikTok and WeChat by various American businesses. One of the executive orders had also stated the ban of TikTok app itself, that had resulted in a long court battle. As a result, TikTok remains available and it is still popular among youngsters in the U.S.

The new order established by the Biden government is expected to direct the Commerce Department for reviewing apps that are tied to various foreign adversaries and lay-out the specifics needed to be considered as an “unacceptable risk.” The order includes several criteria for evaluating the performance of transactions with the software apps that are tied to a foreign adversary. The Committee for Foreign Investment in the U.S. (CFIUS) is the one authority that reviews foreign investments or mergers, the order is also expected to cite previous measures adopted by Trump that define transactions very broadly for including installations or transfers that must involve a communications tech service.

The order could end-up be considering transactions involving a greater risk when they start leveraging the apps controlled, owned or managed by the people supporting these foreign adversary military or intelligence service which could collect sensitive personal data of people from the US.

Under the previous government, TikTok was in a precarious position as the Trump government were seeking the court to ban the application unless it was sold and acquired by an American company. The conflict had prompted Microsoft and Walmart to team-up and court TikTok. However, the company finally went with Oracle being its trusted provider of technology that fell very short of a full sale.
