The Indian edutech giant-Byju’s that has a userbase of over 80 million students has announced that it has acquired Aakash Educational Services a brick-and-mortar educational institution chain via a strategic merger.

The Indian edutech giant-Byju’s that has a userbase of over 80 million students has announced that it has acquired Aakash Educational Services a brick-and-mortar educational institution chain via a strategic merger. The merger would help the Bengaluru-based entity to bring Aakash's test-prep expertise to its content and tech capabilities, to further strengthen its online education model in the country. Furthermore, it will also give New Delhi-based Aakash the ability to expand its online presence in the country — alongside continuing its educational institutes.

Aakash Institutes has over 215 centres across the country that assist students in preparing for medical and engineering entrance exams. Moreover, the decades-old chain which has over 33 years of experience in teaching students and also offer preparatory services for school and board exams, National Talent Search Exam (NTSE), Olympiads and the Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana (KVPY) programme.

Byju's is not gonna bring any changes to the existing core business of Aakash through its acquisition. However, it’s plan is to make further investments to accelerate the growth of the conventional educational institutional chain. The merger will also help Byju's to debut new verticals, subjects, and languages to its existing online platform.
