Maruti Suzuki plans to manufacture ventilators to fight corona virus

Maruti Suzuki India (MSI), on 28th March 2020, announced it is planning to quickly scale up production of ventilators to reach a volume of 10,000 units per month in partnership with AgVa Healthcare.

In the collaboration, AgVa Healthcare will be responsible for the performance, technology, and related matters for all the ventilators manufactured and sold by them. An agreement has been entered into with AgVa Healthcare, an existing authorized manufacturer of ventilators, and Maruti Suzuki, the country's largest carmakers. 

The auto major, on its part, will use its suppliers to produce the required volume of components and use its experience and knowledge to upgrade systems for the production and quality control of the higher amounts.

Maruti Suzuki India (MSI) would also help, to the required extent, to arrange to finance, obtain all permissions and approvals required to enable higher production.

The organization would provide this assistance and services free of cost to AgVa Healthcare.

Furthermore, Krishna Maruti Limited, a joint venture of Maruti Suzuki India (MSI) with Ashok Kapur, will be manufacturing 3-ply masks for supply to central government and Haryana state government.

Production is anticipated to start as soon as all approvals are received. Ashok Kapur will provide 2 million masks free of cost as his contribution, it added. Bharat Seats Limited, another joint venture of Maruti Suzuki India (MSI) with the Relan family, would be manufacturing protective clothing as soon as all approvals are in place.

 All manufacturing units will take extreme care to protect the safety and health of the workers following the government endorsed practices. Earlier in the week, auto major Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M) announced that it anticipates to come up with a sophisticated ventilator at just Rs 7,500, which else would cost up to Rs 10 lakh.

Tata Motors also plans to come up with the manufacturing of ventilators.
