On 24 January, 2021,Okinawa a Gurgaon based electric scooter maker is all set to invest 150cr to setup a new manufacturing unit at Rajasthan with annual capacity of 5 lakhs unit.

The all new manufacturing facility of the compny which will be setup in rajasthan, of the company will have an annual capacity to produce as many as five to six lakh electric two-wheeler units in the first phase which could go up to 10 lakh units in the future.Company has achieved 92 per cent localisation in its manufacturing so far and is looking to achieve cent per cent localisation in the next quarter as per the company's managing director (MD) and founder Jeetender Sharma. He highlighted that the company has been focusing on localisation to be cost-competitive.

Sharma said,” the Covid-19 pandemic has speed-up the rise of e-commerce and last-mile deliveries. It has become essential for businesses in the delivery segment to reduce operational cost, innovate, and increase efficiency consistently, and Okinawa dual will address that need”.

As we mentioned about Okinawa dual, it’s a 250W electric motor 48W 55Ah detachable lithium-ion battery with a range of 130 km on a single charge. It has a top speed of 25 kmph. Company will now target both B2B and B2C in the market by launching new and affordable products.The company will also launch its high-speed motorcycle codenamed OKI100 in the first half of this year, he added.

"In financial year2021-2022, whatever we have done so far, we will accelerate the number with the coming in of two-three new models. He also mentioned that, the company estimated that they will sell around 1lakh units in the next fiscal.
