Samsung Completes the shifting of its display manufacturing plant from China to India

Samsung, a South Korean smartphone and the tech giant has announced that it has completed the construction of its display manufacturing unit in Uttar Pradesh, India. The company’s new manufacturing unit is based in Noida and will be the new hub for display production. As per Samsung’s press release, the display manufacturing unit is shifted from China to Noida. The company considered the industrial-friendly policies and a better industrial environment among the reasons for shifting the plant to India.

It had started the manufacturing of smartphone displays in Noida earlier this April. During the meeting with Southwest Asia President & CEO Ken Kang, Uttar Pradesh’s Chief Minister, Yogi Adityanath stated that Samsung’s Noida factory is a classic example of the success of the ‘Make in India’ programme. Moreover, the CM also stated that it will create more job opportunities for the state’s youth. He also assured the delegation that the state government will continue to extend help to the Samsung company in the future as well.

Samsung has its world’s biggest manufacturing plant in Noida. The facility not only makes phones for India but also exports them to other markets. The company further stated that it will ramp up the production to make display panels in the Noida facility as well. The smartphone giant has seen a 51% year-on-year growth in India in Q1 2021. According to a research report, it has a 20% market share in India. The company has also expanded its tablet portfolio in India with the launch of the Galaxy Tab S7 FE and Tab A7 Lite in India.
