Apple Inc. CEO Tim Cook has shed some hints on the potential of incorporating the electric and autonomous vehicle business in their business operations across the world. The news came when the company hinted on developing its own vehicle. When asked if the company is working on EV creation the Apple CEO goes on to decline any of the statements.
The CEO said, the company had like to integrate software, hardware, and services, and try to find the intersection of these offerings as the true magic lies on the same line. And the company has expertise in the same and loves to integrate any primary technology currently prevailing in the market. Apple Inc. has been throwing hints over the years for potential EV launch or perhaps selling latest technology to other automakers in the domain. The company has made a number of statements indicating it is planning on doing so. To further enhance its expertise in the domain the company even acquired an autonomous vehicle startup Drive.ai in the year 2019.
An autonomous vehicle chain has the potential of making Apple stand-by-stand to the EV giant Tesla, which has already made its presence felt across the world and has been able to roll out self-driving features. In the year 2018, Apple hired Doug Field, which has held the position of senior vice president of engineering at Tesla, making it obvious that the company is highly interested. Apple has been on a hiring spree of employees who have previously worked at Tesla including the former Tesla vice president of engineering, now senior director of engineering hinting at the company’s growth prospects in the domain.
Tesla CEO goes on to make a statement that he’d tried to sell Tesla to Apple when it was bearing losses a couple of years ago but Apple CEO clearly declined any meeting for the same. Now, Tesla is the most valuable automaker across the world.
