Singapore is working on opening a vaccinated travel lane for vaccinated travellers

Singapore authorities had announced this Saturday that the country is expected to start opening its fresh travel lanes for all of its vaccinated visitors coming from 8 more countries. The news came in as the Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong is anticipating that it is expected to take from three to six months in getting to a new normal life with COVID-19. The Southeast Asian country is predicted to launch even more vaccinated travel lanes (VTL) with Denmark, Canada, Italy, France, Spain, Netherlands, the U.S. and the U.K.

The travel initiative is going to enable a quarantine-free travel for those individuals who have already been fully vaccinated, however, travelers would still have to incorporate COVID-19 tests for ensuring that they are not infected by the virus before even entering Singapore. The applications are expected to open on Tuesday, and all valid individuals from these countries who are meeting the desired conditions would be able to secure a visa for Singapore from October 19 onwards. Singapore had already announced the start of its initiative with South Korea on past Friday. The city-state had already initiated alike arrangements with Brunei and Germany in past September.

Singapore is also expected to further tighten the COVID-19 restrictions for the unvaccinated individuals. Those people who have not been vaccinated would no longer have an allowance for entering malls, as stated by Singapore’s trade minister in a briefing held past Saturday. Even those who have been vaccinated are expected to be subject to a limit of about two people while entering the mall. Additionally, the unvaccinated people would not be allowed for dine-in at various shops and food centers in open-air food establishments across the country. Singapore’s ministry of health has also stated some latest measures that have been aimed at protecting those who happens to be more vulnerable, such as the unvaccinated individuals and the older adults.
