Former FDA official stated that third Dose doesn’t have much data to support its need

According to the former FDA director, the world is lacking on affluent data to determine the feasibility of third booster shot for COVID-19 vaccines. He adds that getting prepared for manufacturing boosters is a great step, however the world does not have enough evidence to support the need for third booster, at least across the United States. The country has been witnessing vaccine failures or we’re witnessing immunity waning, son much so that it’s about time to deploy a booster. Pharmaceutical firm Pfizer and BioNTech is presently working on development of a COVID-19 booster shot, in short a third dose for COVID-19, for targeting the highly transmissible delta variant, which has now become the most dominant strain across many countries including the U.S.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDCP) along with the FDA stated previous week in a joint meeting that residents who have been able to receive two shots of the vaccine and have got fully vaccinated may not want to look for a third dose. The company Pfizer has been in works with German company BioNTech for the development of a vaccine consisting of two doses given three weeks apart. It was given emergency use authorization by the World Health Organization in December.

Pfizer and BioNTech cited evidence from Israel's health ministry indicating that their vaccine was less efficient in avoiding infection and symptomatic disease. The spread of the delta variant and the discontinuation of most Covid measures in Israel coincided with the fall in efficacy. The vaccine is still 93 percent effective in avoiding Covid-19 hospitalizations and serious illness. As stated by the ministry.

Vaccine failure rates are now very low for the vaccinations that have been delivered. So, until that changes, I don't think it's a good idea to use a booster dose. However, Baylor, who is also the president and CEO of Biologics Consulting, claims that rigorous monitoring has so far revealed no “significant vaccine failures.”
