Hewlett Packard Enterprise declared on 14th July 2020, that it has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Silver Peak, a pioneer in the SD-WAN (Software-Defined Wide Area Network), in a USD 925 million deal. Silver Peak will be combined with the Aruba business unit of HPE and extend Aruba 's technology leadership in the broad in the rapidly growing SD-WAN field.

According to HPE president and CEO Antonio Neri, HPE was an early mover to recognize the potential at the edge, and that trend is accelerating in a post-COVID environment. With this acquisition, HPE will speed up an edge-to-cloud strategy to deliver a truly distributed cloud model and cloud experience for all applications and data wherever they live.
