FARO Launches New Software name WebShare 'Enterprise' Feature

FARO Technologies, Inc., a global leader in 3D metrology, architecture, engineering and construction (AEC), and public safety analysis, announced the release of its new WebShare software enterprise edition product. The enterprise function is an extension of the widely used FARO WebShare platform, allowing data to be stored on the company's private server or cloud infrastructure. This ensures complete control over the 3D reality data security and provides a quick and easy way to access and share project management workflows. Enterprise features also provide single sign-on support to simplify the login process and avoid managing multiple passwords.

FARO WebShare is a cloud or server-based hosting platform that provides real-time access to modern 3D reality data for global project management and scan-to-BIM workflows. WebShare supports unlimited size data and is source independent. Data can only be viewed, rated, and passed by authorized personnel through a web browser. Supports all major industry standard formats for downloading data for seamless collaboration workflows. WebShare supports a variety of real-world data sources and provides users with an unconvertible way to export point clouds, including exports to other popular industry standard formats such as Autodesk ReCap and Bentley Pointools.

For the industry, AEC FARO WebShare can also integrate 3D reality data as part of a digital twin for the operation and maintenance of buildings and structures and monitor the construction process. WebShare is ideal for large organizations with manufacturing, processing, or government operations and those that choose to host their own data while continuing to adhere to the highest security standards offered by FARO.

"WebShare Enterprise is another important step in aligning with industry applications that can benefit from digital twin technology," according to Vito Marone, senior director, software marketing at FARO. Following the recent acquisition of ATS, the company will continue to provide solutions that will save customers time and money and improve project efficiency and reliability.

In August 2020, FARO acquired Scandinavia AB's Advanced Technical Solutions (ATS) to accelerate the adoption of dual digital solutions technology. The planned integration of ATS software and the proprietary Traceable 3D system enables highly accurate and reproducible 3D scanning on the FARO WebShare platform and increases customer decision time by generating images 10x faster with 1mm accuracy. The digital twin capability is an important next step as it enables the virtual representation of a physical asset. By creating this duplicate, digital twins act as virtual models for current operations, future planning and implementation activities.
