Japan has been witnessing a rising infection rate and the Softbank CEO is raising concerns regarding the country’s decision on holding Olympics

Softbank’s CEO Masayoshi Son stated warning of substantial dangers about holding the Summer Olympics 2020 in Tokyo. The Japanese government had initiated a mass vaccination program for catching up with other countries and ensure a more secure game for the participants.

SoftBank Group CEO stated that Japan’s slow vaccination process is starting to take-off just two months before the Olympic Games which could put risk on people’s lives be it participants and spectators.

According to a recent survey, about 80% of the people surveyed stated that they want the Olympics to either get postponed or cancelled. In a slew of twitter debates, the CEO asked many questions like: “Does the International Olympic Committee have any authority on deciding whether the games could be taken ahead?

There are speculations for Japan to face a huge penalty, in case the games get cancelled. However, if 100,000 people from over 210 countries decide to land in Japan which has already been facing a slow vaccine program and if the mutant starts working, many people will fall in endangered circumstances, if a state of emergency is initiated then subsidies could take a call, and the already stagnant economy could fall below record levels. If the Japanese authorities could consider what the citizens would have to endure, the country may end-up be losing more than expected.

Japan’s medical systems are on the brink of a collapse and the country could remain under state-of-emergency if the cases keep increasing. Japan is way behind many developed nations in the vaccination process as many economies like the U.S., United Kingdom, Australia and many major economies have decided to ease lockdown measures as vaccinations race ahead. The Games begin on July 23.
