Schlumberger announces oilfield tools manufacturing center in Saudi Arabia

On 24th February 2020, Oilfield services company Schlumberger announced a new manufacturing center in King Salman Energy Park (SPARK) in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

The center will manufacture well completion technologies for various oilfield tools and equipment including liner hangers and packers and valves, such as GROVE valves and ORBIT rising stem ball valves, to increase the efficiency of oilfield operations in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and neighboring countries in the Gulf region. The first stage of the manufacturing center, which comprises 105,000 square meters, will generate more than 200 new jobs for the people of Saudi Arabia over the next few years and to develop a highly-skilled manufacturing and supply chain workers for oilfield products and services within the state. This is a demonstration and example of the Schlumberger alignment with the Kingdom’s 2030 Vision.

According to Saudi Aramco upstream senior vice-president Mohammed Al Qahtani, he was delighted with Schlumberger’s inauguration of its manufacturing center. He congratulated them on playing a significant anchor role at the King Salman Energy Park.

This center and SPARK will boost the solutions across the value-chain for the Saudi Energy Industry that will create job opportunities for Saudi men and women sustainably for many generations in the future.

The opening of the manufacturing center is part of the company’s strategy to align itself with Saudi Arabia’s 2030 Vision.

According to the company, these technologies will enhance the efficiency of oil and gas operations within the region as well as neighboring countries.

According to Schlumberger president of Saudi Arabia & Bahrain, Ziad Jeha, it is a proud moment to announce the inauguration and installation of the Schlumberger Manufacturing Center in King Salman Energy Park in Saudi Arabia.

As the first upstream service company set up a manufacturing center in SPARK, it is creating an agile fit-for-basin platform that links science, product development, and manufacturing to the needs of the Saudi Arabia industry.

Recently, Schlumberger announced a partnership with the Egyptian Ministry of Petroleum for the Egypt Upstream Gateway (EUG) project, which will help digitize subsurface information.
