Maruti reports a 58% increase in July production at 1,70,719 units
The comparison is reasonable given that last July's sales had a substantially lower base owing to pandemic-related chaos
Maruti Suzuki India, the country's largest carmaker, announced on Thursday that total output in July jumped by 58 percent year on year to 1,70,719 cars. Although the number of vehicles made in July 2021 is more significant than in July 2020, the comparison is reasonable given that last July's sales had a substantially lower base owing to pandemic-related chaos. “There isn't such a thing,” the automaker declared.
He also stated that the number of vehicles produced in July of this year remained low compared to July of last year. Last month, 1,67,825 passenger cars were produced, compared to 1,05,345 in July 2020. Last month, 24,899 Alto and Espresso light vehicles were built, up from 20,638 a year ago.
Utility vehicle production (Gypsy, Ertiga, S-Cross, Vitara Brezza, XL6) grew from 19,130 units in the previous month to 40,094 units last month. According to MSI, the output of light commercial vehicles Super Carry was 2,894 units in February, up from 2,342 units the previous month.
